In 1686 a Jan Strepers and an H.J. Van Aaken met William Penn in Wesel, Holland and took him to Crefeld, Germany near the border of Holland. It was from Crefeld that the thirteen Dutch families came who were the original settlers of Germantown PA, a suburb of Philadelphia.
Jan Strepers, of Gulick County, Germany (also near the Dutch border) purchased from William Penn (March 1682) 5,000 acres of land in PA. He came to PA for a short time, but returned to Germany where he died in 1715, leaving a step-daughter (Metjen Kurlings) and four other children by his second wife.
There are PA records for William, Henry, and Elizabeth, but whether they are of the same family and this family has not conclusively been established.
1725 All children were living in Amsterdam
